On 7 June, the team at Agora Public Affairs & Strategic Communications Brazil organized a debate in Sao Paulo entitled “Business and government: paths towards a transparent relationship”, in which the main challenges facing companies in the region when establishing ties with the public sector were examined.
Speaking at the debate were Caio Magri, President-Director of the Instituto Ethos, Sérgio Lazzarini, a Professor at the University of Washington; Valéria Café, Superintendent of Influence and Communication at IBGC, the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance, and Santiago Lacase, President of Agora Argentina, while Cristina Iglecio, President of Agora Brazil, took the role of moderator.
One of the panel’s conclusions was that an open dialogue with society and transparency in relations with government are essential conditions for the successful future of businesses and companies. It was attended by around 40 professionals from the Communications and Public Affairs departments at several organizations.
At the event, several issues related to the role of professionals in public affairs and communications in a social context where mistrust of both public and private institutions is widespread were discussed. They also shared their experiences in achieving safer, more positive and transparent relations between private organizations and public institutions.
